LUCKNOW: Hindi bloggers are now getting their place in the sun. Drawn from India and the rest of the world, they will be honoured in Lucknow on August 27 for popularising the language in cyberspace.

Parikalpana, a bloggers' organisation, would confer the awards on 51 persons during an international bloggers' conclave at the Rai Umanath Bali auditorium here, said Ravindra Prabhat, the organising committee's convenor.

The participants, some of whom also blog in English and Urdu, have made Hindi popular in the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Germany and Mauritius.

"The blogger of the decade prize would be conferred on Bhopal's Ravi Ratlami who has a huge following," added Prabhat, a noted Hindi blogger.

The NRI bloggers who have confirmed their participation include Dr Poornima Burman, editor of Abhivyakti (an online book in Hindi published from Sharjah) and the Toronto-based Samir Lal 'Samir' who writes blogs in Hindi and English.

London-based journalist Shikha Varshneya, a regular blogger who has written a book 'Russia in Memory', is also expected to attend the ceremony. The others include Sudha Bhargava (USA), Anita Kapoor (London), Baboosha Kohli (London), Mukesh Kumar Sinha (Jharkhand) and Rae Bareli's Santosh Trivedi, an engineer who left his job with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd, for blogging.

Avinash Vachaspati, the author of the first book on Hindi blogging in India and DS Pawala (Bokaro), the first to start Hindi blogging in India would also be there as would multi-lingual blogger Ismat Zaidi, who writes in Hindi, Urdu and English. Her Urdu ghazals are a hit on the web.

Asgar Wajahat and Shesh Narayan Singh are also expected to participate, but a confirmation is awaited.

The bloggers would discuss the future of the new media, its contribution to the society, especially the future of Hindi blogging and its role in the days to come.
